Overhand Shuffling Techniques

Overhand shuffle is a common method to shuffle a deck of playing cards, a method or technique of shuffling the deck of cards that considered to be a very easy shuffle.

A normal or standard overhand shuffle like other cards shuffling techniques will do randomization if done properly.

How To Do The Overhand Shuffle - Step 1

The Holding Position

Take the deck face down in the left hands. Lean it towards right. (see figure 1.1).
Fingers position : Thumb on "back-side" of the deck, your index finger on the front-bottom edge of the deck (see figure 1.2), and your other three fingers (middle finger, ring finger, little finger) on the "face of the cards" (see figure 1.3)

How To Do The Overhand Shuffle - Step 2

The Movement

Seize the "lower / bottom part" of the deck with your right hand. Put your right thumb on the side of the deck (inner side) and your ring finger, middle finger, and point finger on the other side (the outer side). (See Figure 2.1)
Lift the "lower part" of the deck upwards to remove and separate it from "upper / top part" of the deck. Use your left thumb to help, to hold the "upper part" while your right hand lift the "lower part" of the playing cards deck upwards. (See Figure 2.2 - 2.3)

Bring the "lower part" that you lifted, downward over the "upper part". (See Figure 2.3 - 2.4)
Then Press your left thumb to the top of that part and simultaneously lift your right hand upward again to make another separated part and make the part that hold by your left thumb fall on top of the part that retained in your left hand. (See Figure 2.5)
Then again bring the "lifted part" downward over the other part (See Figure 2.6) and repeat the movement until all the cards held by the right hand have been shuffled off.
